We are an organization designed to meet the needs of utility owners, industrial and commercial or private citizens by providing professional services to utilities which adhere to the highest standards and quality of workmanship.

Our History

Hance Cable Testing & Locating, Inc. has been wholly owned by Larry & Jan Hance since 1983, operating as a service company with the electric utility industry doing testing, trouble-shooting and underground plant locating. Hance Cable Testing & Locating, Inc. was incorporated with the state of Minnesota on March 14, 1990 and expanded to include service to the telecommunication, CATV and gas industries. 

1996 - Hance Cable Testing & Locating, Inc. offers Fiber Optic Splicing Services for the first time.

December 30, 1998 - Hance Cable Testing & Locating, Inc. was split into two corporations. Hance Locating, Inc. operated as public utility locators and Hance Utility Services, Inc. offered a variety of utility services. On March 9, 2001 Hance Locating, Inc. was acquired by CCS Enterprises, LLC, a Montana based operation. 

2001 - Hance Utility Services completes construction of new headquarters facility in Buffalo, Minnesota 

Our Services

Hance Utility Services provides fiber optic splicing, optical time domain reflectometer {OTDR) testing, both pre-test and after placement, and determination of loss measurements as well as emergency restoration. 
As of February 2000, Hance Utility Services offers utility construction and landscape restoration as well as site maintenance. 
Other services include private utility locating and electrical fault locating, and we offer utility locator training on-line, on-site or at our facility.

Our Experience

Hance Utility Services employs individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Some have several years of past experience with either telecommunications or electric utilities, others have either formal training or are in-house trained to meet high quality standards.
